Arjan Helmantel

Trainer at Systemic Business School
"True leadership growth arises when you honestly reflect on who you are and what you do, thus combining authenticity and decisiveness."

Arjan Helmantel (born 1975) has spent over 20 years working with leaders and teams within organisations, with the last 10 years consciously adopting a systemic approach. As a facilitator, he designs development programmes for profit, non-profit, and governmental organisations. In addition, he is a director in the non-profit sector and, through Haard, trains managers and directors to become self-aware and systemically aware leaders.

According to Arjan, being a leader is neither optional nor self-evident. As a leader, you have a responsibility to continually reflect on and develop your own leadership. After all, your personal and organisational patterns converge within your leadership. Understanding that your personal patterns play a role in the way you lead enables you to distinguish between yourself as an individual and yourself as a leader within your organisation. By then gaining insight into system dynamics as a leader and increasing your own systemic awareness, you develop the capacity to naturally take your place within the system. Becoming aware of your own patterns concerning leadership and membership brings calm, relaxation, and new possibilities for action.

With a keen eye and an open heart, Arjan perceives much of the dynamics in organisations, groups, and individuals. He does not shy away from making these issues discussable, thereby creating movement where repetition or stagnation threatens. He does so with clarity, compassion, humour, vulnerability, and courage. Always focused on learning together, because, after all, none of us is ever finished learning.
