Staying agile

If you become too fixated on content or cling to a particular way of working, progress will sooner or later come to a standstill. When opinions or beliefs repeatedly take precedence, no one is available to seize the opportunities that arise. And then a system slowly grinds to a halt.

However, life IS movement, so what do you have to do as a systemic leader to allow movement to exist?

A systemic leader starts by remaining mobile themselves, just like a boxer. You do not walk away after an intervention; you look at its effect and then determine what is needed next.

You always consciously choose that which presents itself. You look at what you need to keep flowing. Then you add – or leave out. Sometimes humour is needed, sometimes a strong impulse, sometimes persistence.

As a systemic leader, you always stay connected to everything that comes your way. You have to! If you do not move with the flow… you will eventually fall over. Just like a tree.
